When a PNG export makes sense

Use PNG for compatibility

Some document editors and design workflows accept PNG more reliably than WebP. PNG is also useful when transparent pixels need to remain transparent during editing.

Expect a different size

A photograph saved as PNG may become much larger without becoming visually sharper. A larger file can be a cost of format compatibility, not proof of improved image quality.

Check the actual format

Changing a filename from image.webp to image.png does not convert the file. RSPNGBridge decodes the selected image and encodes a PNG result. Inspect the downloaded file with an image viewer before handing it off.

Try the workflow

A transparent WebP can become a PNG without adding a solid background. A JPEG will remain opaque because it has no transparent pixels to preserve.
